Functionality & Performance
How is Projector Screen Paint Pro ‘Polarity Preserving’?
3D projectors work by projecting two slightly different images which overlap on the screen. These images are passed through special optical filters which results in the light being polarised in a different way for each of the projections. When you view the two images through special 3D glasses, each lens blocks one of the images, meaning that your left eye sees one image and your right eye the other image.
It's therefore really important that the projection screen you use does not change the polarity of the light if you are using a 3D projector. All of the projector paints are "polarity preserving" which means that the image you see will be exactly the same polarity as is intended, preserving the full 3D effect.
What is gain value & why is it important for projector screens?
Projector screen gain measures how effectively a screen reflects light compared to a standard matt white screen with a gain of 1.0. Gain affects both image brightness and viewing angles. Higher gain provides a brighter image but a narrower viewing angle, while lower gain offers wider viewing angles with more consistent image quality across the room. Choosing the right gain helps achieve the best viewing experience for your environment.
Does a higher gain always mean a better image?
No, a higher gain projector screen doesn't automatically guarantee a better image quality. While it can provide a brighter image from certain angles, it may result in diminished brightness from other perspectives. Higher gain screens typically have a smaller viewing angle.
How do I determine the ideal gain for my projector screen?
The standard gain for a projector screen is 1.0, which ensures equal brightness from all sides and is visible from multiple angles. However, the ideal gain depends on the viewer's preferences and the specific environment. Consider the pros and cons of high and low gain screens to determine the best fit for your needs.
What are the pros and cons of high gain screens?
High gain projector screens provide a brighter image, improved visibility in ambient light, and enhanced perceived contrast. However, this increased brightness comes with a narrower viewing angle, so image quality may decrease for viewers seated off-centre. They are best suited to environments where the audience can sit directly in front of the screen.
What are the pros and cons of low gain screens?
Low gain projector screens offer wider viewing angles, making them ideal for larger audiences as they distribute light more evenly across the surface. This helps provide a consistent image quality from different viewing positions and reduces hotspotting. However, low gain screens reflect less light to viewers, resulting in lower overall brightness. Because of this, they are best suited to controlled indoor environments and may not provide sufficient brightness or contrast in high ambient light or outdoor settings.
Does the White Projector Screen Paint Pro work with blended projections?
Yes, White Projector Screen Paint Pro is suitable for blended projections. Its high colour accuracy, uniform brightness, and excellent light diffusion help create smooth transitions between multiple projected images. It is an ideal solution for large-scale projection surfaces, offering a flexible and cost-effective alternative to traditional projection screens.
Does the White Projector Screen Paint Pro work well with both 2D and 3D Projectors?
The entire range of paints is compatible with both 2D and 3D projectors, ensuring optimal performance regardless of the projection mode. When projecting a 3D image onto the paint, it seamlessly delivers the intended effect, creating an immersive viewing experience when paired with 3D glasses.
Why the Projection Paints Are Acoustically Transparent?
Testing showed that a 12mm gypsum board had the same Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) before and after the application of Projection Paint (α = 0.04–0.07). As there was no measurable difference in sound absorption, the paint does not affect acoustic performance and is considered acoustically transparent. This means sound can pass through the painted surface in the same way as an unpainted board.
How much light does Projector Screen Paint Pro reflect at an angle of 90 degrees?
Projector Screen Paint Pro reflects 7.8mW.
What is the gain value of White Projector Screen Paint Pro?
White Projector Screen Paint Pro has a gain value of 1.24 at a viewing angle of 90. It is the best-performing projection product.
