Surface Prep & Priming
Why should I apply primer before applying Matt Whiteboard Paint?
A primer helps give a surface a smooth finish. Secondly, they act to ‘seal’ a surface and finally it creates a white color base. This means that when you apply Matt Whiteboard Paint on a surface that has been primed, the properties within the Smarter Surfaces Matt Whiteboard Paint will stay on the wall rather than being absorbed into the wall. In summary, using a primer or sealer means you will get a smoother surface with optimum write-on-wipe-off functionality.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Why are there shadows or large marks on my Matt Whiteboard Paint surface, and how can I fix them?
Shadows or large marks are usually caused by incorrect application or applying the paint over a larger area than recommended. Always follow the application guide and recommended coverage size. To improve marks or ghosting, use the Permanent Ink Remover on affected areas. If the issue continues, email a photo of the surface, your order number, and total surface size (in square meters) to support@smartersurfaces.ae for assistance.
Can I use permanent markers on a matt whiteboard surface, and how do I remove them if applied accidentally?
Permanent markers should not be used on Matt Whiteboard Paint, as they can leave stubborn stains similar to a standard whiteboard surface.
If a permanent marker is accidentally applied, first write over the mark using a regular whiteboard marker. This helps reactivate the ink and makes it easier to remove. Leave it for two minutes, then wipe the area clean with a microfiber cloth. If any marks remain, use the Permanent Ink Remover. This specialised cleaner is designed to remove permanent marker stains, ghosting, and difficult residue from matt whiteboard and dry-erase surfaces effectively.
What do I do if I spill the paint?
Matt Whiteboard Paint can be cleaned with any Xylene based cleaner. This can be easily found in DIY or motor stores. Please note, this is not suitable for removing Matt Whiteboard Paint from skin.
Can I use alcohol to clean my Matt Whiteboard Paint surface?
Continued use of alcohol on Matt Whiteboard Paint may deteriorate the integrity of your surface and reduce performance. We have designed the range of cleaning fluids to provide the best cleaning results while maintaining the quality you expect from your Surface. You can see the full range of cleaning products here.
